News ARTiculation: London Heats 16.01.2020

Congratulations to Art History student Carmen from the Lower Sixth who represented Godolphin at the London heats of the national ARTiculation speaking competition.

As part of the annual ARTiculation Prize for those aged between 16 and 19, students are invited to each deliver a ten minute presentation to an audience about a work of art, architecture or an artefact. Adjudicators are asked to assess each presentation as a whole, looking at content, structure, delivery and the speaker’s original approach and unique potential.

Carmen spoke about Anselm Kiefer’s Seraphim at the Whitechapel Gallery and was congratulated for her powerful introduction which grabbed the audience’s attention immediately, before her rich historical research brought out considerations of memory and meaning for a contemporary audience. New works by Kiefer are currently on show at the White Cube Gallery.
