On Monday we hosted the sixth annual Art History and Art & Design Higher Education Conference and Fair organised by Art History in Schools. The main attraction was Cambridge Art History graduate and world renowned artist, Marc Quinn, famous for Self, cast in his own blood. In conversation with Sarah Phillips, author of the new global A Level syllabus, he discussed the evolution of his work and its relationship with current issues of politics and identities.
Other speakers included Sarah V Turner, from the Paul Mellon Centre, architecture historians, curators and the dynamic Alice Procter of Uncomfortable Art tours. With 160 teachers and Sixth formers from 48 schools the Bishop’s Centre and breakout workshops were buzzing with discussions. The afternoon University Fair offered Sixth Formers the chance to meet undergraduates from 25 universities including three Old Dolphins representing Cambridge, St Andrews and the Courtauld Institute.
