News Annual Model United Nations Conference at St Paul’s School 26.01.2024

Last weekend, eleven girls in Year 10 and the Lower Sixth took part in St Paul’s School’s annual Model United Nations conference.

The Godolphin girls were spread across five committees, with each committee consisting of around 20 delegates from a variety of schools across London and beyond. Godolphin were allocated both Turkey and Russia to represent in this conference. The committees debated a variety of challenging topics such as the the question of the endemic instability in the ‘Coup Belt’ and the question of establishing a common policy towards refugees and asylum seekers.

Three of these committees selected a resolution to debate that was submitted by one of our delegates, so a huge congratulations to them considering the volume of resolutions submitted for consideration in each committee. Each delegate who had a resolution selected had to make a case for why it should be formally adopted by the committee. The Godolphin team did phenomenally well, with a tremendous level of debate and in depth knowledge of their topics. When it came to the closing award ceremony at the end of the day, the team managed to secure three awards going to Astrid, Nika and Zeynep along with a special mention being given to Rania. Huge congratulations to them and to all the girls who participated for all their hard work at the conference.

Our next challenge is hosting a mini-conference next month and a full conference in May.
