News A Bumper Week of Sporting Successes 30.01.2020

Fresh from being named the top independent school for sport in London, we’ve celebrated a week of fantastic sporting success in Indoor Athletics, Cricket, Hockey, Netball, Rowing, Fencing and Skiing.

We kicked off the week with our U12s progressing to the regional round of the Hammersmith and Fulham Indoor Athletics competition along with the U13s. Our U12 Cricket team picked up silver medals at the London schools competition at Lord’s defeating Putney High in the semi-finals before a narrow defeat to Notting Hill and Ealing in the final. In Hockey, the U15s progressed to the semi-finals of the Independent Schools’ Hockey Cup with a 6-1 victory over Newcastle Grammar School. The U16 Netball team came third at the regional finals and in Rowing, the J15s came fifth and the J18s came tenth in the Quintin Head. Year 8 student Magnolia won a bronze medal representing England in the U14 epee at the Espoo Challenge for fencing and Defne in Year 11 won silver at the Southern Region British Youth Championships.

There has also been great successes in Skiing at the British School Girl Races with Year 9 student Léa finishing second in the Giant Slalom (individual) and first in the Slalom (individual) to achieve second place overall. Morwenna in Year 11 also came third in the Slalom (individual). The A-team of Georgia (Upper Sixth), Allegra (Year 10) and Morwenna came second in the Slalom and third in the Giant Slalom, achieving first place overall.
