News Year 9 and 10 Rowers Impress with Podiums and Photo-Finishes at Spring Regattas 28.04.2026
On Sunday 19 April, ten Year 9 rowers travelled to East London to take part in their first competitive outing at the Lea Spring Regatta. Blessed with fine weather, the event offered an ideal introduction to racing conditions. Despite facing strong and more experienced opposition, both crews performed admirably, progressing to the semi-final stage and gaining important insight into the demands of race day.
The following weekend saw more Year 9 students make their debut at the Hammersmith Regatta, joining forces with Year 10 rowers to field an impressive armada of six boats racing on the Tideway. The event proved to be another valuable learning experience for all involved, with crews demonstrating determination and growing confidence on the water.
One of the standout moments came in a thrilling Year 10 quad sculls race, which ended in a dramatic photo finish and kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Well done to all the crews, particularly the Year 10 quad and the two Year 9 quads who both finished on the podium.
As the season marches on we look forward to seeing the Year 11-Upper Sixth crews in action at the Wallingford Regatta on Dorney Lake this coming Sunday. Good luck Dolphins!
