News Year 8 Mandarin students celebrate Lunar New Year in China Town 27.02.2025

On the Friday before February half-term, Year 8 Mandarin students enjoyed a trip to London’s China Town in order to see the area decorated for the Lunar New Year, which this year ran from 29 January to 12 February.

Arriving mid-morning, students took in the sights, sounds and smells of China Town through a ‘treasure hunt’, spotting Chinese characters recently studied in class by browsing the many restaurant menus in the area.

There was also time to visit the supermarkets and the Chinese Bakery, before going for a lunch of delicious noodles, rice and chicken dishes, all washed down with Chinese tea.
