News Year 8 Geography: Fieldwork and Haikus in the Autumn Sunshine at Burnham Beeches 15.10.2026

In October, the Geography department took Year 8 to Burnham Beeches in Buckinghamshire for a day of fieldwork in an ancient woodland. The students were investigating the factors affecting habitat variation, measuring the height and age of trees, taking soil pH readings, and conducting surveys on ground vegetation. A highlight of the day was writing haikus under the autumn canopy in a particularly beautiful part of the coppiced woodland. Field trips tend to create lasting memories, and we were delighted to visit this very special place with another cohort of G&L geographers.
