News Year 8 Discover ‘La Joie de Vivre’ in Antibes 11.06.2025

Year 8 had an unforgettable French trip to Antibes. Nestled on the sparkling French Riviera, the town provided a backdrop of sunshine, sea breezes, stunning views of the Mediterranean, and a vibrant mix of history and charm to their week of language studies.

Each morning, the girls attended the language school and it was rewarding to see them applying what they had learned in the classroom out in the real world!  As well as visiting the Picasso Museum they wandered through the narrow and colourful cobbled streets. Many of them practised French phrases as they chatted with the friendly vendors and Antibois — some more successfully than others!

There were many highlights exploring what the region has to offer. ‘Accrobranche’ was lots of fun but of course, no trip to Antibes would be complete without some time by the sea. They spent an afternoon on the sandy beach, paddling in the surprisingly chilly turquoise water, playing games, and kayaking.

The Year 8s were also very keen to sample the local glaces et crepes — they tried everything from classic vanilla to lavender and Nutella!

In the evenings, they enjoyed chilling out at the residences or on the beach, laughing over the day’s adventures. The final night included a Just Dance evening which was a tremendous amount of fun.

By the end of the visit, they’d made memories to last a lifetime. Antibes gave the girls a perfect mix of language practice, culture, and fun — and a whole new appreciation for French life. The girls came back an inch taller with lots of stories to tell!
