News Year 7 History Prize Winners Selected for Historical Association Historical Fiction Competition 11.06.2026
We are delighted to share that three Year 7 students have been selected among the top entries in our school’s Historical Association Historical Fiction Competition. Congratulations to the following students:
Georgiana — He’s Within the Poppies – set in Britain during the First World War.
Ada — Witchcraft Diary – set in seventeenth century Scotland about a young scullery maid caught up in fear, superstition and accusations of witchcraft.
Isabelle — This is Real – set in Britain during the Second World War, this powerful story follows a Jewish evacuee realising that the ‘Phoney War’ has become frighteningly real.
Their stories impressed with their originality, historical imagination and engaging storytelling. As a result, their entries have been put forward for consideration in the national Historical Association Historical Fiction Competition. They will be joining the Year 8 and 9 entries also submitted to the competition:
Sophia, Year 9 — Crescents Over A Quiet Doorway – set in ancient China, narrated by a doorway witnessing secret happenings.
Sophia, Year 8 — The Silk Ciphe”- set during the French Revolution, follows a young spy sent to warn Marie Antoinette before the fall of the Tuileries.
Congratulations to all of the girls. This is a fantastic achievement and a real testament to the quality of writing produced by our younger historians.
