News Year 10 Hit the Slopes in Banff, Cananda 17.04.2026
Over the Easter holidays a group of 37 Year 10 students went skiing in Banff, Canada. Fantastic conditions coupled with brilliant ski instructors made for a truly excellent, memorable trip. One of our Year 10s summed up the trip as follows:
‘We stayed in the beautiful town of Banff for the week which was filled with charming little shops, set against the backdrop of the mountains we would be skiing on, and the best supermarket in town which sold massive Canadian grapes. After an early morning with a full English breakfast, we were on the bus to our ski resorts where we received lots of tips from seasoned skiers and I have to say learning to ski was the highlight for me. It was so exciting to progress from a flat bunny slope to a blue by the end of the week and we were very proud to tell everyone we had been off-piste.
‘On the other hand, the intermediate and advanced groups were able to ski down blacks runs with moguls and do jumps; I was very impressed. We were taught by lovely instructors from around the world who made the experience so entertaining – I looked forward to skiing so much every day.
‘We skied at three different resorts, where we were able to go up gondolas and admire the scenery and then up chair lifts to the top of some massive mountains at altitudes of 2200 metres. Bumping into some of the other groups and even the teachers at the top of the mountain was humbling but hilarious as we were able to ski together for a few minutes until the better groups sped away.
‘The evenings were just as enjoyable, with Miss Elfick’s Canada-themed quiz night which made us all very competitive as we ate our dill pickle crisps at ‘The Meatball Restaurant’; a restaurant which will never be forgotten. I loved Miss James’s movie night which featured six different types of popcorn! The trip also included an Easter egg hunt and a day of free rein around the town before we left for the airport. I have to mention our Ski trip hoodies which are so comfortable and are a perfect souvenir to commemorate all our memories from this trip. We were all so appreciate of the teachers for making the trip so relaxing and exciting. I have never laughed so hard and this trip was the perfect way to spend my Easter!’
