News Yale University: Admissions, Student Life and the Liberal Arts Curriculum 01.10.2026

In September, we were delighted to host the Director of Admissions from Yale University, Mr Light, for a talk about selective admissions, student life, and the experience of studying in the United States.

Mr Light explained the residential college system at Yale, the depth and breadth of the liberal arts curriculum, and the wide range of small-sized classes which are designed for engagement and discussion. He also highlighted the differences between the higher education systems in the United States and the UK. When explaining what it takes to build a strong application, he emphasised the importance of the student’s voice and lived experiences, as well as the willingness to think on one’s own.

We will continue to host talks by Admission Directors to keep our students informed about the wide range of opportunities offered at international universities, with representatives from Dartmouth, Duke, Georgetown, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt visiting us next week.
