News Through to the Translation Bee Nationals after Medals in the Regional Finals 08.05.2026

On Thursday 7 May, six Year 9 students competed at the Regional Finals of the Translation Bee at North London Collegiate School in Edgware. Leila and Bethel represented the school in French, Imane and Nicole in Spanish and Meredith and Matilde in German, having secured the top two places in their respective languages in our own school competition in order to qualify.

There were over 50 competitors across the languages which made for tough competition but, as the organiser said, all were winners already as they were the top 50 from over 3,000 entrants in the London Region! Which made our girls’ performances even more impressive: Imane won the Spanish competition and Meredith and Matilde were 1st and 2nd respectively in German – which means that they qualify for the Nationals in Cambridge on 24 June. Hats off to Leila, Bethel and Nicole, too, who also competed brilliantly. Congratulations to all!
