News Rowers put in Strong Performances in Challenging Conditions at Poplar Regatta 20.05.2026

On Sunday 17 May, our rowers headed to East London to take part in Poplar Regatta, held on the Royal Albert Dock. Strong winds and the occasional plane landing at City Airport made for an eventful, but ultimately successful, day. First off were the J15 1st  Eight who dealt with conditions well to finish in sixth place and they gained invaluable experience ahead of the upcoming National Schools Regatta. The J14 1st Octuple were unlucky to ‘catch a crab’ whilst in a tussle for fifth place but also finished sixth overall in what was their first 2000 metre regatta. Paulina and Emma were next up in the J18 Doubles. It was more difficult for the smaller boats to deal with the conditions but, after an ‘exciting’ start, these two powered through their opposition to finish in first place! Not content with that, Paulina and Emma then hopped into a J18 Coxed Four with Hannah, Matilda and Emily to return to the start. Another great effort followed, and the crew finished in second place overall. The day was great fun, with plenty for the crews to learn and build on for the rest of the season. We wish them the best of luck at this weekend’s National Schools Regatta, held at Dorney Lake. Go Dolphins!
