News Politics and International Relations Society Welcomes Parliamentary Assistant 02.10.2026

Old Dolphin Catherine Coggan (Class of 2020) visited Godolphin and Latymer this week to speak with students about studying and working in Politics. First of all, Catherine had lunch with some students applying to study Politics at university, answering questions about her experiences of applying for and then studying HSPS (Human, Political and Social Sciences) at Sidney Sussex, Cambridge. Catherine then held a discussion with the Politics and International Relations Society, reflecting on her current role as Parliamentary Assistant to an MP. She spoke about why she had chosen to specialise in Politics and International Relations at Cambridge and how she had worked towards her current role in Parliament. We then had a series of lively discussions as a group about votes at 16, whether there should be a maximum voting age and the possibility of Electoral Reform following Andy Burnham’s Conference speech.

Thank you so much to Catherine for coming back to Godolphin to meet with the girls, provoking some really interesting discussions.
