News Outstanding Success in UKMT Intermediate Challenge and Olympiad Rounds 22.04.2026
In the penultimate week of the Spring Term, students who had scored highly in the Intermediate Mathematical Challenge took part in their respective follow-on rounds. Eleven Year 9s, Seventeen Year 10s and 28 Year 11s took part in the Kangaroo rounds with Gold certificates (for the top 10%) going to Chloe, Year 9, Yi, Year 10, and Coco, Year 11.
Four girls had also qualified for the prestigious two-hour six question Olympiad competition putting them in the top 500 nationally (an excellent achievement in itself). They were Nayeon and Danqi in the Year 10 Hamilton Olympiad (Danqi gained a Merit putting her in the top half of qualifiers); and Camilla and Lucy in the Year 11 Maclaurin Olympiad. Lucy gained a Distinction and a Silver Medal and was one mark off a Gold Medal placing her around the top 20 pupils nationally, another remarkable achievement! Lucy also attended her third UKMT training and selection camp in the last twelve-months over the Easter holiday having achieved a Merit in the hardest of all UK mathematics competitions: the three-and-a-half hour, four question British Mathematical Olympiad, Round Two earlier in the Spring Term. Congratulations to all of our fabulous mathematicians.
