News G&L Times Triumphs at the Shine School Media Awards 02.07.2026
On Monday, students involved in setting up and writing for the student newspaper, The G&L Times, were awarded two prestigious prizes from the Shine School Media Awards.
The paper’s main editors, Arianna, Lower Sixth, and Andrea and Amabelle, Year 11, represented the school at the awards ceremony at the Stationers’ Hall in East London, where they won the Society, Community and Sustainability Award. Arianna was also Highly Commended by the judges for the Editor of the Year Award, while Andrea was Highly Commended for the Tomorrow’s Talent Award. In addition, Yasmin, Year 10, won the prestigious ‘Best Scoop’ award which recognised her interview with Mark Field MP where she exclusively revealed his views on votes for 16-year-olds.
Winning national awards for secondary school journalists, which receive hundreds of entries per year, is highly impressive. Many congratulations to all of the many talented students involved who have worked to develop the concept, design, layout, logo and editorial line of the newspaper, contributing to a truly professional-looking publication! Also, many thanks to Ms Lough who has provided support and encouragement to the students along the way.
