News Florence Featured in The Times for Latin Audio Project with Stephen Fry 25.06.2026
Congratulations to Florence, Year 11, who has been featured in The Times, Thursday 25 June, newspaper.
Florence’s achievement began with a visit to the Roman Baths, where she was fascinated by the site’s rich history and immersive visitor experience. She was particularly impressed by the audio guide, which is available in 13 languages, including Mandarin, Ukrainian and Japanese – but not Latin. Determined to change that, Florence translated the entire audio guide into Latin herself. After having her work reviewed by a scholar from the University of Cambridge, she went on to persuade Stephen Fry to record the narration.
Stephen Fry said he was ‘enchanted’ by Florence’s ‘marvellous idea and by her infectious passion for the classical world’. Thanks to Florence’s initiative, the Latin audio guide is now available to download from the Roman Baths website, alongside a written version that she also translated.
This is a remarkable achievement and a wonderful example of intellectual curiosity, determination and a love of learning. Well done, Florence!
