News Easter Rowing Camp: Ghent 2025 25.04.2025

Over the Easter break, 50 Godolphin rowers and coxes from Year 10 to Upper Sixth travelled to Ghent, Belgium, for our annual rowing training camp.

Although the sun didn’t shine every day, the girls were treated to mostly good weather and made the most of the flat water and 2km lake. The senior squads racked up an impressive 150km over the six days, putting in serious miles in preparation for the regatta season. Off the water, the hard work continued with two or three revision sessions each day providing a well-earned break from the boats.

For many of our younger rowers, it was a first chance to experience singles and small boats. They rose to the challenge with a mix of spirited racing and solid technical focus (mostly serious!). It was also the first time down the track for our new 8+, very kindly funded by the BCSA — a big hit with the squad.

Every rower had plenty of time on the water, gaining valuable technical development and experience in laned racing. On the final day, we seized the chance for a photo shoot on the empty lake, and ran the first-ever Godolphin-only six-lane race.

Huge thanks to KRSG, KRCG, and Ponton for their hospitality and food, and a massive well done to all the rowers for a fantastic week. We’re now looking ahead to six full weeks of racing, kicking off with JIRR and Wallingford, and building towards National Schools Regatta, Henley Women’s, and Henley Royal.
