News Music Scholars’ Concert: Celebrating the Musical Talents of our Senior Scholars 14.10.2026

On Friday 9 October, we were treated to a hugely impressive Year 10-Upper Sixth Music Scholars Concert. At the start of the concert, Mr Langworthy spoke ever so warmly of all of our scholars, and described how integral they are to the musical life of the school.

The concert began with Meredith performing Elias Parish-Alvars’ La Mandoline, showcasing a great deal of impressive dexterity and timbral warmth. Isabel followed on the violin, performing the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major. This performance truly captured the grandeur, lyricism and passion of the music, all with superb virtuosity. This was effectively contrasted by beautifully intimate performances of Faure’s Pie Jesu and Puccini’s O Mio Babbino Caro by Maya, followed by a really moving performance of ‘With You’ from Ghost: The Musical. Anna’s performance of Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 2 was wonderfully fiery and spirited, and her interpretation of the second movement of Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto in D Major was utterly compelling. This was followed by a sophisticated performance of Bach’s Partita No. 2 by Francesca, followed by an immensely stylish and elegant Rondo in C Major by Mozart. Next, Giselle’s rendition of Kieron Galliard’s Ensueño Español was ever so exciting, full of sweeping colour and spirit . To conclude the concert, Emily gave a striking performance of the first movement of Beethoven’s Cello Sonata No. 2, with the opening bars full of gravity before a truly vivacious Presto.

Bravo to all of our wonderful music scholars!
