News Bonjour Antibes! Year 8 Immerses Itself in French Language and Culture 04.06.2026

The week before half-term our Year 8 French students had a fabulous five days in Antibes practising their French and enjoying the sunshine, culture and activities in the local area. Ella, one of the group, tells us about some of the highlights of the week:

‘Bonjour Antibes! From 18–22 May, Year 8 enjoyed an indelible trip to Antibes, filled with adventure, laughter, and plenty of opportunities to practise our French.

‘One of our most interesting visits was to the Fragonard Parfumerie. We discovered how perfumes are created using ingredients from around the world and century-old French traditions. Exploring the different fragrances made the visit both fascinating and fun. We bought lots of presents for family and friends.

‘Another special highlight of the trip was the Acrobranche. High in the treetops, we tackled climbing walls, swinging obstacles, and thrilling zip lines that tested our courage and determination. I’m sure that we all felt very proud standing at the end of the course. Kayaking on the beautiful Mediterranean Sea was another wonderful recollection.

‘The trip also helped us build confidence and experience French culture. Speaking to local people and hearing French all around us brought the language to life in a way that no classroom could produce. Our animateurs were friendly, enthusiastic, and supportive throughout the week.

‘We returned home with amazing memories, improved French skills, and plenty of stories to share.’
