News Year 10 Students Experience Language and Culture in Granada, Spain 02.06.2026

During the May half-term, 32 Year 10 girls travelled to Granada with their teachers for an exciting week of language learning and cultural immersion in one of Spain’s most fascinating cities.

Following their arrival on Monday, the girls met their host families and settled into their new surroundings before taking part in a guided walk through Granada’s historic centre. This provided an excellent introduction to the city and its rich heritage.

Tuesday to Thursday, each morning was spent at language school, where the girls developed their Spanish skills through interactive lessons. Tuesday afternoon brought the chance to learn the basics of Flamenco dancing, before an evening performance showcased the passion and energy of this famous Andalusian tradition. On Wednesday afternoon, the group visited the spectacular Alhambra and the beautiful Generalife gardens. Exploring the palaces and grounds offered a fascinating insight into Granada’s Moorish past and one of Spain’s most treasured landmarks. The final excursion took place on Thursday afternoon with a walking tour of the picturesque Albaicín district. Its winding streets, whitewashed buildings and stunning viewpoints provided a memorable end to the cultural programme. Before flying home on Friday evening, the girls enjoyed some free time to pick up souvenirs and make the most of their final hours in Granada.

The trip was a great success, and we look forward to future visits.
