News An Oarsome Effort at Wallingford Regatta 06.05.2026

The Year 11 and Sixth Form rowing squads headed towards Windsor for their first big regatta of the season last Sunday, competing at Wallingford Regatta held on the Olympic venue of Dorney Lake. First to race was our J16 Coxed Four who finished with the 7th fastest time in the heats and just missed out on a spot in the final. A similar fate fell upon the J18 Coxless Four, but both crews learned valuable lessons to take with them into the rest of the season. The J18 Double Scull of Emma and Diana, who have only been together a short while, put in a gutsy effort in their heat, as did the J16 Eight in theirs, but unfortunately neither made it through to their respective finals. Our J18 Coxed Four rowed with power and promise in their heat, qualifying comfortably for their final. By the end of the day, they had finished 5th overall in a strong field, many of whom are likely to be podium contenders at the National Schools Regatta in three-weeks’ time. A lot can change in three weeks, so there is still all to play for. GO DOLPHINS!
