News A Celebration of Musical Talent at the Autumn Concert 21.11.2025

On Tuesday, we held our Autumn Concert to an absolutely packed Bishop Centre. The concert featured all of our major ensembles (including the Symphony Orchestra, String Ensemble, Philharmonia, and Concert Band) as well as a number of our chamber groups and choirs including Opus 7 (Year 7 String Group), Flute Group, Percussion Quartet, Percussion Sextet, Brass Ensemble, Senior Choir, Year 8 and 9 Choir, and Year 7 Choir.

Alongside well-known themes such as The Elephant, Shake It Off and Happy, we were delighted to hear repertoire that, perhaps, deserves to be better known, including Einaudi’s Divenere (played by the String Ensemble) and a rare performance of Debbie Wiseman’s Wilde (from the 1997 film starring Stephen Fry), performed by the Symphony Orchestra. The Symphony Orchestra (numbering over 50 pupils) also performed the first movement of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 1; we are really excited to hear them perform the full symphony in March 2026.

We were thrilled that the concert also featured the debut of our newest ensemble, Opus 7, featuring many of our Year 7 string players (nearly twenty in total!).

In total, well over a quarter of the school crossed the stage to perform. It was a thrilling evening – bravo to all the performers!
