News Promising Early Results for Godolphin Rowers 18.11.2025

It has been an exciting start to the rowing season for the Godolphin Boat Club, providing a good foundation for the months ahead.

Over the half-term break, Maia and Olivia, Upper Sixth, travelled to Gloucester for the first open GB assessment of the year, racing in their single sculls. Both delivered strong performances on an unfamiliar stretch of river (no mean feat in a sport where you face backwards) with Maia finishing 12th and Olivia 18th among the GB contenders.

On Saturday 8 November, seven boats took on the Kingston Small Boats Head, a key preparation race for the Junior Fours Head the following week. One Quad, one Coxless Four and five Coxed Fours tackled the 5.2km course, making the most of an unusually warm and sunny November day. Results were encouraging for the season ahead, with standout performances from the J18 Quad and Coxless Four, who placed 2nd, and the J18 Coxed Four, which secured 3rd in its event.

The following Friday, after some adjustments to crew line-ups, five Senior boats raced the Junior Fours Head time trial on the Championship course from Chiswick to Putney. Facing the strongest junior crews from across the country, our athletes rose to the challenge, meeting many of their pre-race targets and earning competitive results in a high-calibre field. A special mention goes to the Coxless Four, which finished 10th, with all remaining crews placing inside the top 20 in their respective categories.
