News Lower Sixth Students Attend Classics Conference at Harrodian School 10.11.2025

On Friday 7 November, seven Lower Sixth students studying Classical subjects attended the annual Classics Conference at Harrodian School, joining peers from across the region for a day of fascinating academic exploration.

The event featured a series of lectures by leading Classical scholars from prestigious institutions, including the University of Oxford. Topics ranged from religion in Greek literature to ancient conceptions of gender and sexuality, offering students a chance to deepen their understanding of the ancient world from multiple perspectives. Several talks were directly linked to the OCR Classical Civilisation syllabus, reinforcing students’ exam preparation, while others offered a glimpse into the breadth and depth of Classics at university level. The experience provided a valuable taste of undergraduate-style learning.

Our students were highly engaged throughout the day, posing thoughtful and perceptive questions that impressed the guest speakers. Their curiosity and enthusiasm reflected both their intellectual maturity and their passion for the ancient world. The conference was a memorable and enriching experience — one that broadened horizons, deepened understanding, and celebrated the enduring relevance of the Classical past.
