News Mathematical Brilliance in UKMT Senior Challenge 06.11.2025
Before half-term, over 100 A Level and IB Higher Level students took part in the UKMT Senior Mathematical Challenge (SMC) — a national competition designed to stretch and inspire the most able young mathematicians. Impressively, around 80% of our entrants earned certificates, with nineteen students achieving Gold and qualifying for the follow-on rounds taking place in two weeks’ time.
Special congratulations go to Lucy, Year 11, Naomi, Lower Sixth, and Olivia, Upper Sixth, whose exceptional scores would have qualified them for the British Mathematical Olympiad, Round 1 — an intensive 3.5-hour paper — though actually all three had qualified already! Lucy, despite being in Year 11, was named Best in School, an outstanding accomplishment.
Our Gold medal, Kangaroo Round qualifiers are:
Lower Sixth: Grace, Lilly, Sofia, Mariella, Amelie, Luis, Zeynep, Emily
Upper Sixth: Martha, Ysabel, Kyra, Catherine, Isabella, Maya, Beatrice, Susanna
Congratulations to all our talented mathematicians for their hard work, enthusiasm, and impressive results!
