News Godolphin Debaters Strike Gold at LSE Schools 2025 14.10.2025
Many congratulations to debaters Alice and Melody, Year 11, who won all four rounds of the LSE Schools 2025 debating competition at the London School of Economics on Saturday 11 October, and then went on to win the Gold Final. Three Godolphin teams joined 89 teams from other schools including St Paul’s Girls’ School, Ibstock Place, Dulwich College, South Hampstead High School, Westminster School and Eton College. Many were fielding Sixth Form teams which made our girls’ win even more impressive. The four Motions debated during the day included: the privatisation of the NHS; how best to organise the feminist movement; how to tackle low level crime in London; and the glorification of risk-taking. The Motion on which Alice and Melody won the Gold Final was: ‘This House prefers a world where the morality of behaviour is assessed primarily on outcomes as opposed to intentions’. They really did a fantastic job on what was a very long day starting at 8.30am and going through to 8.00pm. Bravo Alice and Melody!
