News Politics Unwrapped: Lower Sixth Trip to Westminster 09.10.2025

In October, Lower Sixth Politics students headed to Westminster for a day of immersion in the key sites of UK government and politics. They began their trip in Parliament, where they were able to explore the Palace of Westminster with a tour guide, learning all sorts of information about the history of Parliament and how it works today. It was particularly exciting to be able to enter the chambers of the House of Lords and House of Commons due to the parliamentary recess. They ended their tour in Westminster Hall where they had some time to enjoy the surroundings of this historic location before heading across Parliament Square to the Supreme Court.

In the Supreme Court, students were able to visit the three courts and explore the informative exhibitions about some of the most influential Supreme Court decisions. They then enjoyed a quick lunch break in St James’ Park with the pelicans before a leisurely walk around Whitehall spotting the various government departments and battling the crowds to have a look at 10 Downing Street.

It was a fabulous trip for students to experience first-hand these great offices of power and to put into context many of the themes and topics they are covering in their courses.
