News Year 10 Art and Design Students Visit the National Portrait Gallery 05.09.2025
Year 10 Art and Design students began their GCSE course with a visit to the National Portrait Gallery. This was a fantastic opportunity for them to enhance their coursework portfolios by exploring themes of portraiture and identity at one of London’s prominent galleries.
The students visited two of the gallery’s temporary exhibitions: Jenny Saville: Anatomy of painting and the HSFK Portrait Award 2025. These brilliant, visually rich exhibitions from contemporary artists – especially the formidable paintings of Jenny Saville – provided a fantastic introduction to their studies and will help inform their projects going forward. They also visited the permanent collection which features a wealth of portraiture through a range of time periods.
