September 2024

The Godolphin and Latymer School is one of the country’s leading independent day schools for girls, located on a six acre site in Hammersmith, London.  The School’s facilities are excellent, making it an exciting place to learn and work.  The students at Godolphin and Latymer receive unrivalled academic and pastoral support and outstanding examination results are achieved.

Mathematics is a popular subject at the school and in the Sixth Form.  In Year 7 girls are taught in their forms but from Years 8 to 11 they are taught in bands. All girls are entered for the Edexcel International GCSE (IGCSE) and around 40% of these also take the AQA Level 2 Certificate in Further Mathematics in Year 11.  At A Level, the majority of girls study Mathematics and many also choose to study Further Mathematics. Those studying the IB all take one of three Mathematics courses, with around one third choosing to do so at Higher Level.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a well-qualified and inspirational Teacher to join an innovative and highly successful department of thirteen Mathematicians from 1 September 2024. For an experienced and suitable candidate, there is also the opportunity to gain or develop leadership experience within our IB Mathematics programme. This will involve assisting the Head of Department in the next stage of development for our highly successful Diploma cohorts which are regularly one of the top IB schools both nationally and internationally.

The successful candidate will be required to teach across the school, up to A Level/IB Mathematics.  They will need to work well as a member of a team and have a willing approach to sharing and developing their teaching practice.  The ability to teach Further Mathematics / IB Higher Level is preferred.

All members of the department are required to contribute to the Mathematics enrichment programme, which includes problem solving clubs, individual and team competitions, staffing twice-weekly support sessions and preparing candidates for university applications, including as outreach for a number in maintained schools.  Staff are also expected to contribute to the wider extra-curricular programme on offer at the School.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.

Accommodation may be available for new staff in a local six-unit property.

Fully completed application forms should be returned to recruitment@godolphinandlatymer.com as soon as possible.  Please note that applications must be made on the school’s application form.  CVs alone will not be accepted.

There is no closing date for this vacancy.

Applications will be considered on receipt and interviews may occur at any stage.

The School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).  The School may carry out online searches on shortlisted applicants and all applicants will be required to provide details of their online profile, including social media accounts, as part of their application.

All staff working in the School during the school day will have contact with children and will therefore be in regulated activity.  As a teaching member of staff you will be working directly with, and be responsible for, the children that you teach. You are also likely to have contact with other pupils on a regular basis which may include specific pastoral or other responsibilities for pupils whom you do not teach.

The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.  The School is therefore permitted to ask job applicants to declare all convictions and cautions on a self-declaration form in advance of attending an interview (including those which are “spent” unless they are “protected” under the DBS filtering rules) in order to assess their suitability to work with children.”
