An opportunity has arisen for a suitably skilled applicant to join the school as a Design and Technology Technician, to primarily support the teaching of DT.

The post-holder will maintain the departmental tools and equipment and the teaching and stock rooms.  They will ensure that these areas are safe, clean and orderly environments in which teaching can take place most effectively, with support provided during lessons for the teaching staff and students.  On occasion, the post-holder may be required to assist in other areas of the department, such as Food Preparation and Nutrition.

The successful candidate will have excellent organisational and time management skills.  They will be able to set up equipment and materials competently and efficiently within a set timeframe.  They will need to possess or acquire, with help from the school, the required level of knowledge and understanding of health and safety legislation and risk assessment.  They will be environmentally aware, maintaining the ethos of the department through the policy of reducing, reusing and recycling.

Previous experience, particularly of Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacture, and use and maintenance of woodwork machinery, would be advantageous, although the necessary training will be provided.

The working hours are 25 hours per week during the term time, (this is approximately 35 weeks per year), the successful candidate will be required to work the complete week in which each term starts and finishes. Exact working hours may vary year on year and will be discussed on appointment.

The salary will be commensurate with the post and will depend upon qualifications and experience.
