News Year 8 Visit the Loire Valley 06.07.2019

During half term, 36 Year 8 girls boarded the Eurostar bright and early to Paris for a trip along the Seine, stayed in the picturesque city of Poitiers, and explored everything the Loire Valley had to offer.

After taking in the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame, the girl travelled by coach to Poitiers on the Clain river before spending the day at Futuroscope, one of Europe’s largest educational theme parks. Throughout the day, the girls enjoyed all the entertainment, education, technology and spectacle the park offered. In the evening, the girls were treated to a thrilling pyrotechnic display whilst watching Cirque du Soleil’s ‘Forge aux étoiles’ show.

On the second day, after a treasure hunt in the stunning grounds of the Chateau de Chambord, one of the finest examples of Renaissance architecture in France, we travelled to Orléans to spend an afternoon in a typical French school. The girls had the opportunity to take part in lessons, learn about the similarities and differences between the two educational systems, and practise their language skills. On our final day, the girls paid a visit to the Joan of Arc museum and stopped for a brief spell of shopping at Cité de l’Europe before returning home.
