Year 7 visit the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Posted: 22/06/18

On Wednesday 20th June our Year 7s were given their first taste of Geography fieldwork.

The aim of the day was to evaluate the sustainability of the urban regeneration at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford. Girls collected data at four sites across the Olympic Park; the Westfield Shopping Centre, the former athletes’ village, the Olympic Stadium and the organically-regenerated Hackney Wick. The girls enjoyed seeing the curved lines of the Aquatic Centre and were fascinated by the natural wastewater treatment in the wetland areas. They made the most of the fantastic weather with a picnic amongst the wildflower meadows.

Back in school, the girls presented and analysed their data; the regeneration was judged to have been a success.
