Last Friday, Year 7 Classics students braved the rain on their visit to Cambridge. Their Latin course includes elements of Greek and Roman culture, so they enjoyed sketching Mycenaean sea creatures and examining Roman sarcophagi in the Fitzwilliam museum. In the Cast Gallery, the girls learnt how Greek sculpture developed for the stiff archaic period to the naturalism of classical pieces. We were delighted that Old Dolphin, now undergraduate, Victoria Paines, was on hand to help them in this.
The girls also took in some of the sites of Cambridge – including King’s College and the Corpus Christi clock. Sadly, ‘tempus fugit’ all too quickly and it was soon time to head back to school.
