US College Admissions Sessions

Posted: 28/09/18

This week we welcomed our US College Admissions sessions really demonstrated the diversity of opportunities for students wishing to study in America.  Girls from Years 10 and 11 were introduced to the breadth, flexibility and scope of a US Liberal Arts degree in a fascinating talk by a Director of Admission from Bard College, which is in a beautiful 1000 acre campus on the Hudson River  upstate from NYC. The ‘take away’ memory was probably Bard’s Globalization and International Affairs program which combines study with an internship in New York, just one example of why Bard is the 4th Most Innovative College in the US.

Our second event was a presentation by the Admissions Director of Yale University.  Accompanied by a set of images showing the beautiful colleges, the world-renowned rare manuscript library, and cutting edge scientific research, he talked about the attributes, qualities and skills that Yale looks for when deciding who to admit, and the wealth of academic resources and research facilities.  Questions from students ranged from the residential college system to what is unique about Yale amongst the Ivy League.
