Last Saturday, the Higher Education and Careers team welcomed over 250 students - including those from twelve visiting partnership schools - to the ‘Undiscovered Subjects Taster Day’. The day was designed to empower students to broaden their horizons through approaching the university application process with an open mind. The event offered students the opportunity to choose three lectures delivered by speakers from eighteen of the UK’s leading universities on areas of academic study they may have never encountered otherwise. A diverse range of options were on offer including: Anthropology, Architecture, Design Engineering, Linguistics, Pharmacy and Sociology. Students’ engagement was certainly evident in the insightful and thoughtful questions they confidently posed to the speakers. Furthermore, students left the University Fair clutching university prospectuses having enjoyed speaking with university representatives to gain further insight into life at university.
