On Sunday 29th January the U14 netball squad took part in the Regional Schools Tournament which they qualified for in the county tournament in November. Success in the Regional Tournament would enable them to qualify for National Finals in March. The team did not have a good start in the first match losing to Guildford 14-8. However their poor performance forced the team to re-focus in the second match against Sydenham High. The team played with intensity and determination and had a comfortable win of 15-6. We then played North London with whom we qualified from the county round by only beating them by one goal. The girls played with control and confidence to win 10-4. The girls had developed a good rhythm but suffered a setback in confidence when playing Alleyn's School who played very strongly causing us to falter and lose 11-8. They showed resilience as they had to pick themselves up straightaway and play Sevenoaks straight after. There was only one goal in it the whole way but we held out to win 11-10. Luckily we had time to regroup with 3 games off to prepare for our last two games both of which we had to win to have any chance of going through to Nationals. We won both with confidence, with a 9-4 win over Forest and a 18-1 win over Sacred Heart. This put us in second position in the group by one point. The girls should be very proud of being placed in the top 8 schools in the country! The next round is held on March 12th.
