On Wednesday 1 November, we welcomed the fantastic Tigerlilies, Princeton University’s oldest all-female A cappella group, to G&L. Particularly excited to be here was Molly (Class of 2017), a member of the Tigerlilies who left G&L School this year and has flourished at Princeton University.
The day started off with a concert to our Partner Primary Schools. Over 100 Year Five and Six pupils from Brackenbury, Flora Gardens and John Betts Primary School walked through the School gates, excitedly asking whether the concert will be like the film Pitch Perfect!
After an energetic performance and finishing on a Frozen medley, which went down extremely well with the younger pupils, the Tigerlilies had a short break before embarking on a workshop with G&L’s Junior Chamber choir. The group worked on the Billy Joel Song The Longest Time and all involved enjoyed it immensely. The girls learnt a lot about harmonising and it boosted their confidence ready for their evening performance.
After the workshop, the buzz in the air was apparent with everyone getting ready for the grand finale performance. The evening went down extremely well, with the packed-out audience, made up of parents, members of the local community, friends and family, leaving feeling inspired.
Thank you to everyone who attended the concert as all money raised from these events goes towards the School’s Bursary Fund and makes a difference to the lives of girls living in the local community.
