The Raising and Giving Team at Godolphin is responsible for fundraising for charities throughout the year and is an important part of the Godolphin and Latymer community. The RaG team is made up of students in UVI and supported by Miss Murdoch and Miss Hodgkins. On average, they raise around £10,000 each year, which is used to benefit local and international charities.
RaG's fundraising is carried out primarily through Wednesday and Friday bake sales, Mufti days and Tuesday collections, with all money donated to the chosen charities. They encourage the whole school community to get involved with fundraising, and the girls and staff show great fundraising spirit in providing baked goods for cake sales and their generous donations in Tuesday collections.
Each half term, RaG choose a selection of charities to support. This half term, they have selected the following four charities:
The money raised throughout this half term will be split equally amongst the four charities. Action Against Hunger and Doctors Without Borders will also feature in the Godolphin and Latymer Sustainable Development Lectures, so students can learn more from these events.
RaG also works to benefit the local elderly living in Hammersmith through tea parties three times a term. This culminates in a large Christmas party in December, where local elderly people are hosted at Godolphin, enjoying the Year 7 Christmas Play, Christmas lunch and exciting hampers made for each guest by every form within the school. For many of the people attending the tea party, it is the highlight of their Christmas season, so it is a key event in the Godolphin calendar.
