With the International Baccalaureate celebrating its 50th birthday, we marked the occasion with a special programme for girls of all ages celebrating intercultural understanding and respect - an essential part of life in the 21st Century.
The day began with an opening assembly from the current IB cohort which delved into the history of the IB, and a moment of individual reflection on what it has brought them over the last year and a half. Girls were then able to see the benefits of the IB diploma through fascinating talks from some of our remarkable IB alumnae.
Throughout the day, a number of stimulating activities were provided for girls in all year groups, ranging from sessions led by IB students on Visible Thinking, to Year 7s reflecting on what it means to be a lifelong and inspired learner. The celebration continued at lunchtime with the Birthday House Event where house points could be won for creativity, activity and service (CAS).
The day was wonderfully observed by the girls and there was a truly positive and inspiring atmosphere around the school. Of course, no birthday is complete without a slice of cake, a glass of (elderflower) bubbly and a picture of the IB cohort!
