We were delighted to welcome British journalist and author Michela Wrong to the school for the first in a series of lectures curated by Upper Sixth student Sophia on the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals - the blueprint for a better and more sustainable future.
Michela, who spent 16 years covering event across the African continent for Reuters, the BBC and the Financial Times, spoke to girls about the long-term trends in development and the political shifts taking place in Africa.
Taking to Twitter after the event, the former James Cameron prize winner said "I was gobsmacked to discover that five of the pupils at Godolphin and Latymer School who came along to listen had read my books - one had read all of them - and the library had well-borrowed copies of my books. Very cheering."
We look forward to hearing from the other guest speakers that Sophia has lined up for the series.
