News Success in Mathematical Olympiad for Girls 14.11.2019

Last week we received the results for this year’s UK Mathematical Olympiad for Girls and we are delighted to see such impressive individual and overall results.

The Mathematical Olympiad for Girls is a two and a half-hour competition consisting of five challenging problems aimed at girls and young women across the UK. Each problem requires a full, written solution. The competition is used to help identify students who might become members of the UK team for international competitions.

Last year, 20 girls entered and they achieved an average score of 12, with a top mark of 24. This year, 23 girls entered and they achieved an average score of 22, with a top mark of 37 and four distinction awards for Upper Sixth student Sophia and Lower Sixth students Ines, Jasmine and Margaryta. Arabella in Year 11 received the top result for her year group with a score of 26.

Congratulations to all those who participated on achieving such fantastic results.
