STEAM took centre-stage on Wednesday when the Bishop Centre was taken over by teams representing Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths to explore the world of patterns, transformations and mutations. As the clock counted down, the girls tackled a carousel of challenges that encouraged them to use all their ‘soft skills’ - such as collaboration and communication – to discover how creative-thinking and inquiry can help with problem-solving.
Architectural towers were being built in one corner – some to rival the Eiffel Tower and others the Leaning Tower of Pisa! – whilst other groups were cracking Euler’s formula, lighting up LED circuits, saving the world by preventing an epidemic, or connecting and transforming patterns to create a fabulous piece of art.
The girls approached the challenges with their characteristic enthusiasm and curiosity which made the day rewarding for everybody involved.
