A group of sixth formers spent a fabulous week in Morocco at the start of the half term break, an incredible opportunity for them to explore and understand the culture and issues facing a community far away – but not all so different.
Beginning our trip in Marrakech, the group soaked up the city’s atmosphere and energy by exploring the souk, learning about the city’s famous tanneries and naturally, taking a camel ride!
The group then travelled to the Atlas Mountains for an itinerary of mountain trekking and learning about the traditional Berber culture of the region. The walks were tough but the stunning views more than made up for it - and the Berber hospitality was as unreserved as we had been told of.
Our sixth formers were wonderful, showing an intense interest and respect for the very different world they found themselves in, and throwing themselves into all our walks and activities.
Our experience of Morocco is one that will remain vibrant and unique in our memories for a long time and it is thanks to Mrs Lee, who organised and led the trip.
