“Truth, power and responsibility: the BBC’s future”

Chairman of the BBC Trust, Rona Fairhead, will look at the role the Corporation plays in the UK and in particular in reflecting and shaping the national conversation and the nature of political debate. Rona was appointed Chairman of the BBC Trust in October 2014. She has described the Trust’s main job as fighting “like crazy to make sure that the voice of the public is heard.”
Before her latest role she was the Chairman and CEO of the Financial Times Group from 2006 – 2013, having previously been Group Finance Director of its parent company, Pearson plc. Prior to joining Pearson, Rona held a variety of senior positions in financial and global businesses including ICI plc and Bombardier Inc. She is a non-executive director of PepsiCo. Previously, she chaired HSBC in North America and was a member of the HSBC Board. She has an MA in Law from St Catharine’s College, Cambridge and an MBA from Harvard Business School and in 2012 was awarded a CBE for services to industry.
Her favourite programmes include Planet Earth 2, The Missing, all things Radio 4 and always Match of the Day.
Tickets are £15 and include a post-lecture glass of wine or juice. Current Godolphin pupils can attend this event for free.
