The Bishop Centre was transformed from a former Victorian church into a moody Chicago speakeasy for the PTFA’s annual Jazz Night fundraising event. It proved a fitting venue for Miss Chloe Reid, Acting Director of Music, to showcase the school’s talented senior singers and a twenty-piece Swing Band, surpassing parents' and staff members' expectations of brilliance.
As guests enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner, they were treated to a programme ranging from popular show tunes such as 'Don’t Rain on My Parade' from Funny Girl, to torch song classics such as 'Valerie', which more than matched Amy Winehouse’s version. By the time Lower Sixth student Aimee finished her rendition of 'I’m Feeling Good', parents were on their feet in admiration. The Swing Band was also pressed into giving an encore - a great experience for some of the Lower and Middle School musicians taking part.
The PTFA would like to thank supporters of the event. All proceeds go towards bonus initiatives for Godolphin and Latymer girls such as Challenge Your Limits Week.
