The Godolphin and Latymer Boat Club competed at the National Schools’ Regatta, the largest rowing regatta for junior rowers in Britain, in an intense weekend of racing.
On Friday, the J14 A-octo had two incredible races and their best performance yet at the regatta in beating Headington and Lady Eleanor Holles School in the time trial, finishing a commendable 3rd in the B-final, and 8th fastest in the UK in J14 Girls’ 1st octos.
The J15 eight, J16 coxed four and J18 coxed four all raced on Saturday. The J15s had their best race of the season, but just missed out on the finals. The J16s had storming rows in the time trial and semi-finals, and showed great resilience to make the A-final, where they finished 6th in the UK. The J18 four also had some great races, storming through the time trial and semi-final, and qualifying for the A-final easily. Here they rowed with great heart to finish 5th.
On Sunday, two Championship Girls’ Pairs raced, alongside a J16 double and Championship Girls Coxless Four. The four made Boat Club history by qualifying for the A-final in this elite event - an amazing achievement. They made all the coaches and supporters very proud, with their hard fought 6th place. National Schools’ 2019 had some great performances from Godolphin crews, with 3 A-finals, 1 B-final, 1 C-final, and our rowers giving it their all showing great grit and determination.
