On Wednesday afternoon, the Upper Sixth Green Team went to City Harvest in Acton, a charity helping put surplus food to good use in a sustainable way, by distributing to organisations that provide food for the hungry in London.
The team met with the CEO, Laura Winningham, and the Head of Volunteer Engagement, Francesca Santucci, to find out more about what City Harvest do and how they help address the issue of food waste in London. The Green Team then got stuck in: helping to unpack, check use by dates and sort a new delivery of food surplus. In their short time at City Harvest they learnt a lot about the issue of food waste in London and were excited to see how we can help in the future.
The Green Team will be sharing photos, videos and what they learnt from their trip in the whole school assembly planned for the upcoming Green Day at the end of February, with Francesca Santucci delivering a talk on food waste and the work that City Harvest do.
