Godolphin girls bagged a major debating trophy on Tuesday, when they won the London Junior Debating League.
The competition, for students in Years 7 and 8, begins in November every year. Out of 22 schools taking part from across London, Guildford and Sevenoaks, only six qualified for the final. Godolphin took on St Paul's Juniors in the semi-final, winning a closely fought contest by successfully proposing the motion 'This house would make it compulsory for 50% of government ministers to be female.' In the final, they faced four-time winners Latymer Upper. Opposing the motion 'This house supports the peaceful breaking of the law by climate change protesters', they won a convincing victory by 72 points to 53.
