News Futures: Year 7 Tenner Challenge 14.11.2019

On Monday afternoon we welcomed Old Dolphin and entrepreneur Lily Bourne to the school to launch the Year 7 ‘Tenner Challenge’ as part of our ‘Futures’ programme.

Ms Bourne (Class ’04) set the tone for the event with a key note speech focusing on her numerous business ventures before the girls got into groups to begin the challenge. With crisp £10 notes in hand, Year 7 planned how they were going to use or invest the money to generate profit and the girls displayed fantastic teamwork and communicative skills and were incredibly creativity with their ideas. Logo design was a key part of the afternoon as pupils decided how to brand and market their products.

The ‘Futures’ programme is designed to help the girls develop their entrepreneurial skills and all proceeds raised through the ‘Tenner Challenge’ will be donated to the school’s Bursary Fund. Pupils are currently working enthusiastically to get their products or services ready to offer to the school community in December.
